Travel journal, 29 Apr.-25 July 1809, kept while traveling from Edgefield, S.C., to Litchfield, Conn., to study law at the Litchfield Law School; including comments and descriptions re various towns visited, weather, people, food, and attractions, including a waxworks in Cowbridge; also including comparisons between South Carolina and Connecticut, especially the level of education common among Connecticut's population. Letter, 16 Oct. 1820, from Martin to a fellow lawyer or judge, re an upcoming case, meeting to examine a witness, and planning for dinner after the meeting.
